Collage of the Quarter
Pictured here are tomato cells analyzed in our lab for a commercial tomato paste manufacturer looking to distinguish between intact and ruptured cells. Higher percentages of intact cells provide a greater yield and overall higher-quality tomato paste.
FlowCam Reveals Silicone Oil Droplets and Other Particulates in Intravitreal Injections
A recent paper produced by the University of Colorado Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology compared the particles released from different syringe and needle samples from the same brand and lot. They discovered great variability in the numbers of particles released. The concentration, size distribution, and morphology of the micro-sized particles were characterized using the FlowCam.
FlowCam Used for Quality Control of Silver Particles in Printing Applications
The collage below shows the silver flake particles prior to being milled into spheres for a printing application. Imaged on the FlowCam 8100.
The following collage shows the silver particles after they have been milled into spheres of a consistent sphericity and size. Imaged on the FlowCam Nano.
Yokogawa Recognized for Commitment to Global Sustainability
One of the many reasons we were excited to join the Yokogawa family of companies in 2020, is because of their commitment to sustainability and to the environment.
Late last year, Yokogawa was recognized by the CDP (a global non-profit that drives companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests) for their climate change leadership. The prior year, Yokogawa was first recognized for their leadership in water security, making them holders of a double A score from the CDP. Yokogawa both supplies environmentally-friendly product solutions to its customers, as well as works toward the corporate goal of net-zero emissions by the year 2050.

FlowCam Used to Image Local Honey
Shown here are particles trapped in honey from hives belonging to FlowCam Technical Support Manager, Kay Johnson. The top row shows pollen grains, and the bottom row shows common pests called varroa mites. These honey bee parasites are very common and can weaken a hive, so bee keepers treat for them during the summer and fall to keep numbers low.
