Welcome to our September Newsletter! This month we're highlighting our Gold and Silver Service Plans to help our customers maintain their FlowCam instruments in top condition.
Interested in learning more about FlowCam Applications? We are sharing FlowCam Nano and 8100 images of lipid nanoparticles, and offering a technical note to help you determine when a color camera is the best choice for your application, and more.
Lastly, we are thrilled to announce that we've been selected as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine for the fifth time. We invite you to review our list of open positions and consider joining our extraordinary team.

FlowCam is not only an effective tool for analyzing aggregates in biotherapeutics but also lipid nanoparticle (LNP) and other nano drug delivery systems. We've recently analyzed a mRNA-LNP formulation for subvisible and submicron aggregates with FlowCam Nano and FlowCam 8100. FlowCam Nano offers the highest resolution in flow imaging microscopy: Take a close look at the images taken with FlowCam Nano -- you may be able to spot multiple agglomerated spheres that look like LNP oligomers.
LNP images acquired by FlowCam Nano in the size range of 300 nm to 2 µm. Numbers are ESD (equivalent spherical diameter)
LNP images acquired by FlowCam 8000 in the size range of 2 µm to 100 µm. Numbers are ESD (equivalent spherical diameter)
WHAT WE'RE READING
FlowCam Detects CyanoHABs in African Fish Farms
In sub-Saharan Africa, rural farmers are expanding freshwater aquaculture by raising fish in ponds to enhance nutrition and augment their income. Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (CyanoHABs) have had negative impacts on human and livestock health, and are starting to gain attention in Africa.
Two recently published studies use FlowCam to examine harmful algae throughout the region. Scientists are learning how the ecology of the ponds is affected by physiochemical conditions.
FlowCam was used to analyze samples from the ponds and found that Microcystis was dominant in the green fishpond (A) whereas Euglenophytes were more common in the reddish fishpond (B).
Color vs. Black & White: How to Choose a FlowCam Camera
While most imaging particle analyzers are equipped with black and white (monochrome) cameras for image acquisition, FlowCam 8100 instruments offer a choice of either black and white or color cameras.
This technical note will describe the strengths and weaknesses of each camera choice and discuss which is better suited for specific applications.
Back after a three-year break, leading scientists from academia and the pharmaceutical industry came together at the Colorado Protein Stability Conference to discuss a wide range of topics around protein and viral vector engineering, stability, aggregation, and delivery.
Poster sessions during the week allowed for one-on-one discussions on emerging research topics, with the FlowCam team presenting “VisualAI for Sample-Agnostic Flow Imaging Microscopy Particle Analysis” and “Advances in Flow Imaging Microscopy Techniques for Submicron Particle Analysis.”
For the fifth year, we are honored to be named among the best places to work in Maine.
